Revision help at the Study Centre
by Daniel Brown - Thursday, 12 March 2015, 02:06 PM

Help with revision from the Study Centre

There is lots of help for students at exam time: in addition to extra revision classes from your teachers, you can access revision and study guides from the Study Centre, pick up Help Sheets for exam techniques, essay writing, revision strategies and time management.

You can collect a wall planner to organise your revision and an exam countdown chart to prioritise your work.

Also in the Study Centre, you can buy highlighter pens for your notes and annotations, and blank revision cards to use for revising topics. The study carrels have been designated as quiet study revision zones or if you prefer to study in a group, then there are areas at the rear of the Centre with larger tables.

Check out the Get Revising ( website

It can provide you with the necessary tools to help prepare for your exams.  Create a study planner, share resources, test yourself with subject quizzes, create flash cards and use revision cards to organise your notes on specific topics

If you would like 1:1 help in planning and organising your revision, ask at the Information Desk.

May I please remind you that under our Code of Conduct you are not allowed to smoke on College premises and this includes the use of electronic cigarettes, e-cigs, vapes and a wide range of products recently released onto the market.

4.5    Smoking anywhere on college campus including the use of electronic cigarettes and the use of college premises for rolling cigarettes.

Our recent fire alarms have been reportedly based on the use of electronic cigarettes and I do not have to remind you that this is both disruptive and costly to the college.  The College Leadership Team will take strong action on any one found to be in breach of this aspect of our code of conduct.  If you need any advice around the use of products or on nicotine withdrawal, please contact Student Services.

Georgia Williams: Free Your Spirit – Join In

The free and adventurous spirit of Telford teenager Georgia Williams will be immortalised on colourful wristbands to be produced in her memory.

Free Your Spirit – Join In is the slogan to be reproduced on thousands of royal blue and orange bands, and has also been adopted as the motto of the Georgia Williams Trust.

Georgia’s father Steve said: “We chose Free Your Spirit – Join In because it totally sums up Georgia, her energy and her enjoyment of life – it really is the perfect strap-line for the charitable trust in her name.”

The Georgia Williams Trust will work closely with Georgia’s family on how the money should be spent to celebrate her life and create a lasting long term legacy
Money raised will help young people from the town take part in the sort of activities Georgia enjoyed, such as Outward Bound courses and climbing.

The trust has also revealed details of its bank account, which will allow anyone raising money in Georgia’s name to pay cash in easily.
The Georgia Williams Trust bank account is with Barclays Bank. The account is under the name New College Telford – The Georgia Williams Fund and the account number is 33366030 and the sort code is 20-85-46.

In order to ensure that the College premises remain secure and that we fulfil our safeguarding obligations it is vital that students wear their ID badges and lanyards. In the event of students not wearing an ID badge the following action will take place:

1. Day 1 – Student to report to Reception and sign in and collect temporary day pass.

2. On the third occasion of no ID the student will be asked to pay for a replacement cost of £5.00. If YOU are unable to do then YOU WILL BE SENT HOME to either retrieve your ID or return with a £5.00 replacement fee.

3. Any further non-compliance will result in FINAL WRITTEN WARNING and ultimately will result in GROSS MISCONDUCT
